  1. Oct 7 Asbestos Abatement Worker Refresher 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This annual refresher training fulfills all of the EPA, State of Illinois (IDPH) and Indiana (IDEM) requirements for maintaining an Asbestos Worker license. Students with an expired certificate for more than 12 months (Indiana) or 12 months (Illinois) are not eligible for reaccreditation and must retake the initial training course.

  2. Hydro Mobile User/Operator Training 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This course will provide valuable insight into the fundamentals of safe use, daily inspection procedures and operation of the Hydro Mobile M2 mast powered climber utilizing a 24-foot and 14-foot power unit with a 12-foot bridge. After successful completion of the course, the participant will also gain a certification from Hydro Mobile as a qualified M2 series User/ Operator (UO).

  3. Work Zone Safety 2 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    In this two day course students willlearn proper work zone practices and protocols for general road work and highway work zones.  In addition they will also receive IDOT Flagger training. Safety topics will include concrete work, power tools, back safety, working around heavy equipment, and communication issues.

  4. Skidsteer Training 2 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This 2-Day course deals with approved safety procedures for the operation of skid steer loader. Basic operation of a construction skid steer loader is taught, along with ongoing maintenance procedures. Hands-on training in identification and usage of the universal hand signals will also be a part of this course.

  5. Signal Person Safety Training (SPST) 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This certification course covers crane dynamics, hand signals, boom deflection, crane operations and limitations. Additional training topics will focus on hazard recognition and apply OSHA’s minimum clearance distance for cranes. Renewal period of four years.

  6. Trench Safety 2 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    We review and discuss OSHA guidelines for trenching, shoring, soil classifications, protective systems, rescue shoring and shoring systems design. The extensive hands-on in this two day course will include the following topics: hydraulic shoring, screw jacks, air and timber shores, trench shields, manhole braces and more.

  7. Scaffold Technology "IAS" 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Effective April 1, 2020

    The CLTAF's Scaffold Program has been redesigned to meet industry needs and demands of our Laborers. The CLTAF Scaffold Program will consist of the following independent training courses:

    5-Day Scaffold Technology Course

    This 5-Day training will include the following topics and scaffold systems:

    • Scaffold User Safety - OSHA Subpart L
    • Scaffold Tools and P.P.E.
    • Building Frame Scaffolds
    • Building Tube and Clamp Scaffolds
    • Building System Scaffolds
    • Proper Use and Safely Working 
      on Elevated Work Platforms (Scissor and Boom Lifts)

    This Scaffold Technology training certification will expire in 4 years and participants will need to take the  1-Day Scaffold Refresher to renew their skills/certification.

    The 5-Day Scaffold Technology and 1-Day Suspension Course Certificates/Skills will expire every 4 years. Participants will be required to attend this 1-Day Refresher Course every 4 years to maintain their current certificates/skills. There will be a 1-year grace period extended to you to renew your certification.

  8. Oct 8 Aerial Lift Training 4 Hours, 07:00AM - 12:00PM

    Training focuses on daily inspection, maintenance and safe operation relating to scissor and boom lifts. The majority of the training class time will be devoted to a hands-on environment. Renewal period of 4 years.

  10. Oct 9 Burning 2 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Training is designed to prepare Laborers for work on demolition projects and general construction sites. Classroom studies include OSHA regulations and safe work practices. During hands-on training, students will learn proper set up, follow correct torch procedures, as well as practice effective cutting techniques. Students will apply these learned skills with various fuels used in the industry, including acetylene and propylene. In addition to oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting is also introduced.

  11. Solar Farm Training 3 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This Solar Farm Training course is composed of both classroom and hands-on training. The course will provide experience related to commercial Solar Farm construction and Solar Panel Installation. Classroom activities include lessons on electrical hazards, PV module, post and racking installation and more. Hands on activities include site prep, layout and setting the posts, racking system and panels.

  12. Skidsteer Training 2 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This 2-Day course deals with approved safety procedures for the operation of skid steer loader.     This 2-Day course deals with approved safety procedures for the operation of equipment. Basic operation of an industrial forklift and rough terrain forklift.

  14. Oct 10 American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED 1 Day, 07:00AM - 12:00PM

    This course offers the latest techniques by the American Red Cross in giving first aid, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED). Renewal period of two years.

  15. Lead Abatement Worker Refresher "IAS" 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This training fulfills EPA and State of Illinois (IDPH) requirements for maintaining a Lead Abatement Worker license. This certificate is valid for three years. Students with an expired certificate for more than 12 months are not elligible for reaccreditation and must retake the initial training course.

  16. Oct 11 Hazardous Waste Worker Refresher "IAS" 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This annual refresher training fulfills all of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER) requirement for working on hazardous waste sites. In addition, course reviews OSHA permit-required confined space and hazard communication standards (GHS). Students with an expired certificate for more than 12 months are not elligible for reaccreditation and must retake the initial training course.

  17. Equipment Test Out 1 Hour, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This course is only offered to experienced operators and/or individuals who have previously attended the Equipment Operation course. A time slot will be reserved for each student’s test out based on the equipment selected. Equipment available for test out: Skid steer. Class 4 industrial forklift. Class 7 rough terrain forklift. Boom Lift. Scissor Lift.

  18. Flagger Certification Training 4 Hours, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This course meets the State of Illinois requirement for workers who direct or work around vehicular traffic. Training will focus on proper procedures of stopping and releasing traffic on roadways, how to protect yourself, other workers, and the public in work zones through the proper use of signs, signals and barricades. Renewal period of four years.

  19. Aerial Lift Training 4 Hours, 07:00AM - 12:00PM

    Training focuses on daily inspection, maintenance and safe operation relating to scissor and boom lifts. The majority of the training class time will be devoted to a hands-on environment. Renewal period of 4 years.

  20. Permit-required Confined Space Entry Safety 3 Days, 07:00AM - 03:03PM

    This course prepares the individual to work as part of an entry into Permit-Required Confined Space. Training focuses on how to recognize, evaluate and control safety and health hazards associated with PRCS. Topics include Hazard Recognition, Health Effects, PPE, OSHA construction standard for confined spaces, Lock-Out and Tag-Out, Ventilation, monitoring and entry permit program.

     

  21. 8-HR Fall Protection Certification 1 Day, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Become aware of the technical information regarding the human body in fall arrest and suspension. This class will cover the different classifications of the Fall Protection Systems card. Classroom study of rules and regulations will be taught along with demonstrations and hands-on projects.

  22. Oct 14 Pipelaying 5 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    Focuses on the principles and techniques of installing pressure and gravity flow pipe systems. Laser aligners, transits, checking line and grade, and crew member responsibilities will be reviewed. You will learn how to determine pipe slope and percentage of grade. Renewal period of five years.

  23. Forklift Training 2 Days, 07:00AM - 03:30PM

    This 2-Day course deals with approved safety procedures for the operation of equipment. Basic operation of an industrial forklift and rough terrain forklift.

    Skill Certificates issued in this course:

    This course is only offered to experienced operators and/or individuals who have previously attended the Equipment Operation course.     This 5 - Day course encompasses all aspects of the 10-Hour OSHA training course with additional emphasis on safety and health management and additional topics covered in the construction standards.  Hazard recognition and elimination will be discussed in detail.  Recommended four year renewal period.

    This course fulfills all of the EPA, State of Illinois (IDPH) and Indiana (IDEM) requirements for obtaining an Asbestos Worker license. Hands-on activities include the use of air purifying respirators, construction of negative pressure containment and decontamination unit, as well as simulated removal and clean up of asbestos materials.

    Clean-shaven face is required for Respirator Fit Certification.
